The Bookkeeping Software I use as a Freelance ASL Interpreter

Tax season is coming up! It's every freelancers favorite time of year (haha....). Both my grandmother and my mom were bookkeepers, so I came by bookkeeping skills naturally.
Google Sheets and Google App Scripts
I like to keep things simple, but somehow keeping things simple made them more complicated. I type every assignment and the details on a row in Google Sheets and then I asked my husband to use Google App Scripts to make it sync with my Google Calendar. This setup is perfect for me because it's free and I don't have to enter the same information twice. The next thing I plan to do is ask him to set it up so I can automatically generate invoices from this Google Sheet.
Found Bank
I like Found bank quite a bit because you can send invoices directly from your bank account and schedule them to send without needing to think about when to send them. (This works for me because I don't like to have to think about it much). You can also set up "pockets" which are separate accounts that you can setup to automatically put money into every time money comes in. So for example you can save for taxes, a professional development fund, etc. You can find my referral link at the bottom of the page, and if you setup an account with my link you and I both get $20.
Ally Bank
This is an online bank (so there's no physical stores). I don't mind this because I do most of my banking online. (Found is also an online bank). Ally has a high interest savings account that has some of the best rates you can find. Right now as of December 2025, the rate is 3.30%. When you're saving your money to pay taxes you may as well earn a little interest on it. If you use my link and meet the requirements, you can get $100 and I get a little something as well. The link can be found at the bottom of the page.
Every freelancer is different and likes different tools. What do you like to use and why?
