Phew.... it's time to catch up. I've been MIA for a while now, blogging, YouTube, LinkedIN, even Facebook.
First thing's first, I'm elated to announce, that I now have VQAS III/II, EIPA PSE Elementary 3.2, and have passed the EIPA Written test. These credentials have increased my work opportunities and earning potential.
Here's a photo with me posing with the "PASSED" screen on my EIPA Written (blurred screen due to confidentiality agreement). The proctor said "Mentos make you smarter... Well, actually... Mentos help you breathe because of the mint. If you can't breathe, you won't be smart. So therefore, Mentos make you smart" (Loosely paraphrased).

Three and a half years in this field have been very difficult with a lot of ups and downs. Right now, I am definitely on an "up". I'm excited that I finally feel established in this field.
Next things on my agenda, will be either obtaining RID National Certification or start my journey on the BEI system. I'm also looking for a mentor to work with me to increase my EIPA score. Then in the next few weeks I'm taking a 44 hour medical interpreting course. The medical interpreter course is accepted by CCHI, so if/when I get RID certification, I'll also be able to get CCHI certification.
Where are you in your interpreting journey? How was your experience getting into this field?
